I picked this up in a grocery store in Yekaterinburg. Standard brown half liter bottle with a multi-colored label featuring a coat of arms surrounded by flags. Strelyets in Russian means shooter or archer (as in the zodiac sign). The ingredient list includes sugar. Best before 1/19/05, I opened it on 1/20/05. Day late, ruble short.
Pours clear gold under a one finger white head that fades very quickly, leaving no lace. The nose is strong of bread - lots of barley here. The mouth is light and prickly. The taste is mild, slightly sweet and primarily of malt, with a fairly pronounced metallic hops punch in the finish. The metal and bitter fade quickly, though, leaving a sweet aftertaste. I was expecting much worse, but this is actually quite drinkable.
