Clear, dark reddish amber in the Gulpener tulip. Plenty of spritziness in the mouth and lacing in the glass. Herbal tea and juniper aroma.
Some modest malty flavors and just a touch of sweetness. The biscuits got burned on this one. Plenty of hops with a woody, cedar undertone. Some dank herbal taste. There does seem to be an evergreen flavor to this. Really barky and increasingly bitter at the finish.
An IPA by any other name turns out to be just as bitter. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Malt & Vine in Redmond.

22 oz bomber bought from "Roths Sunnyslope Market" $3.99 Says 7.0% alc. Cloudy dark amber, very turbid large thick and creamy eggshell white head. Nice. Very nice resiny and floral hop aromas..malts seem strong in the nose also. Taste is the same well hopped but really nice treacle flavoured malts..liked it. Great mouth feel thick and medium carbonated..love this aspect. Surprised with this one..very nice stuff.

On cask at the Ice Harbor Brewery in Kennewick, WA. October 29th, 2011.
A: The beer poured a reddish brown color with a bright amber glow around the sides of the glass. There was a very small finger of tan head on the top with decent lacing that quickly dissipated.
S: The beer had an aroma of spruce, pine trees and citra hops. There was also some heavy caramel and winter spice notes.
T: The beer has a strong caramel malt flavor upfront with some light citrus and hop bitterness from Citra, Cascade and Amarillo hops used to brew the beer.
M: The beer has a medium to light mouth feel with a dry finish. The carbonation is extremely light, I'm not sure if this is primarily due to it being on cask.
O: It's an interesting experiment taking two of my favorite styles (IPA and Winter Warmer) and combining them into a single beer. I'd like to try the bottled or tap version to compare. Worth checking out if it finds it's way to a bar/bottle shop near you.

Appearance is brown in color with a light reddish hue having a nice off white head and clingy lace. Smell of sweet malts with molassas, citrus and a little buttery. Taste has a nice malt backbone thats ligthtly sweet, citrusy and a little earthy yet not overpowered by the hops. Mouthfeel is medium with good carbonation. A nice easy going winter warmer that I'm really enjoying.

22oz bomber purchased at the Yoke's in the Kennewick Highlands. I've had this on-tap numerous times and often take growlers home in the wintertime, but as they've only begun bottling this fairly recently, this is my first bottle. 7%abv according to the label, which lacks a freshness date, unfortunately.
Poured a mahogany color with a big, creamy beige-colored head that took its time dropping. Lots of lace.
Bready malts greeted the workers in my olfactory, along with spicy hop notes. As it warms up, the hops become more dominant in the nose.
Big, malty flavor to start with, including caramel and biscuit notes that is quickly paired up with some soicy and bitter hops. There's a slight mineralish flavor that is just perceptable, but not enough so to mar the taste of this beer. Finishes with a crisp zap to the palate.
Medium bodied, with a slick, coating mouthfeel.
Unlike my last IH bomber, this lives up to the memoray of trying this beer on-tap. A very tasty winter warmer, one that I will pick up in boittled form more often in the future.

Completing the troika of reviews, bottled version (first batch) purchased at brewpub and consumed with neighborhood brew crew 12.28.10, poured into Barley Brown's pint glasses.
Two finger rocky white head, slow dissipation with significant lacing. Garnet amber clear body, multiple streams of carbonation slowly rising to surface. Nose is pretty malty, noble hops on back end, a slight bit sweet. Taste mirrors nose, though the back-end got significantly more bitter as it warmed, slightly resiny. Mouthfeel just on the full side of medium, not a lot of effervescence. Drinkability is pretty good. Glad to see this bottled, I'd certainly grab a bottle again.

Pours hazy amber, ample white head that falls to leave heavy lacing. Smells slightly fruity, some slight sour malt. Tastes initially of fruity pebbles up front, one dimensional malt, backed up by a "sluggish" bitterness- it starts slow and then crescendos to a pleasant twang. Mouthfeel is medium and balanced well with the flavors, this helps the drinkablility significantly. It is basically a darker IPA, a good one at that.

On tap at the Ice Harbor Brewery
Pours a red mahogany brown color with a small white head. The foam is quite sticky and yields good lacing.
The smell is mild with roasted sweet malts and some evergreen hop scents.
Taste is better than the name suggests. A slightly bitter caramel flavor followed by an acerbic warming bitterness.
Mouth feel is full bodied, smooth and slightly cloying.
A very drinkable winter ale. It's not a big beer, which makes it quite sessionable. I'd say it is a milder version of Full Sail 'Wreck the Halls.' A nice winter ale for hop heads.
