On cask at Ice Harbor, 5.20.2010, poured into shaker pint glass, $4.25.
One finger creamy white head, fairly slow dissipation, big sticky entails of lace down the side of the glass. Haze golden body, some visible carbonation. The oak was hard to pick up in the nose, subsumed by the vanilla, a bit of fruit re mango, hops pushed far back. Taste was a huge cloying vanilla hit up from, hard to decipher the hops until back end, not a very bitter finish but increasingly so as beer warmed up a bit. Mouthfeel was strange, very creamy, fairly full, felt more like Hale's Cream Ale or NC Scrimshaw on the palate, kind of weird. Drinkability, this was, er different, had a hard time finishing one which was more than enough. I'll pass next time, just too much vanilla which overwhelmed the nuances of barrel aging and the presence of the hops. To be honest, my least favorite Ice Harbor beer to date.
