A: Pours a black color, with ruby highlights on illumination, a light brown head, very good retention and lots of lacing along the sides of the glass.
S: Aromas of coffee and chocolate. Cookie maltiness.
T: Semisweet to semidry. The nose follows the palate with bitterness enough to avoid excessive sweetness.
M: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.
O: A great interpretation of the style. The nitro was a nice touch.

On-tap at Thirsty Bear Brewing Company, San Francisco, CA
A: The beer is very close to being jet black in color—only traces of dark red are visible near the edge of the glass when it is held up to a bright light. It poured with a finger high creamy tan head that has very good retention properties and died down but consistently left a short head covering the surface and some lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of dark roasted malts are present in the nose along with slight bits of coffee.
T: The taste follows the smell, having lots of flavors of dark roasted malts with some notes of coffee and hints of chocolate.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied and a little fluffy on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation. No smoothness or creaminess is present.
O: This beer is quite easy to drink and the nitro lends a pleasant amount of smoothness.

Really tasty stout. I think some might be quick to call it basic, but the fact of the matter is it pours a beautiful black with foamy tan head, leaving a very good amount of lacing along the glass. Very fresh tasting. The smell is of malts, chocolate, a hint of caramel, a slight slight smokiness. Very smooth and not too bitter. Enjoyed this one a lot.
