This is number 4 in the Stave Series. The description on the poster is a bit ambiguous. This is described as "A rich, malty ale aged six months in Makers' Mark bourbon barrels." The bartender told me this is Brown Bear in bourbon barrels. Considering that it pours red, and it's 8% I'll call it a Strong Ale.
Pours dark red, murky, tall beige head with only a small amount of lacing and low retention.
Aroma is mostly bourbon and wood but also a touch roasty and lots of caramel.
Flavor is heavy on the bourbon, too sweet, caramelly, wood, some nuttiness, and boozy. CO2 is low as is bitterness.
Body is medium, and this is drinkable but in half pint servings.
