A few words about the brewery first: Satsuma Brewery equals Meiji Gura Distillery from Kagoshima, JP, a well known maker of shochu (Japanese spirit distilled from sweet potatoes etc).
As the distillery has been venturing into craft brewing, this time they decided to make something of the purple sweet potatoes they are distilling from - and there came this beer from.
It looks funny, it is completely red or crimson in color! Has quite strong carbonation that leaves no lacing, it is almost like a carbonated soft drink. It smells like a juice made of sweet potatoes too. The taste follows too, although you might be abpe to trace hints of beer in the end, sweet potato overcomes it all. It is best to forget about beer and drink it as an alcoholic soft drink in general - I was expecting it to be a beer so I could not really appreciate it, however as a "happoshu", a low-malt-beer-like-beverage, it is much better made than the rest.
For those who appreciate something new but not really for beer lovers.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
