Appearance: The beer pours a dark musty brown body with plenty of carbonation. The head is a dirty-white color, if that makes sense. Unlike the normal Japanese macros, it looks like a world class beer.
Smell: Spicy cinnamon and banana bread aromas dominate the nose. There is a hint of yeast and something else which I can't quite put my finger on, almost like some sort of incense.
Taste: The "clove" flavors associated with the Dunkel style really stand out. Sweet banana like flavors then show up and the aftertaste is, for lack of a better word, earthy. This is probably the hops kicking in but without much bitterness.
Mouth feel: The beer has smooth feel and there is a dry kiss in the aftertaste.
Overall: Wow! I was not expecting this beer to be this good. It represents the style well. Try to pick one up if you're ever in the Kagoshima area of Japan. As of 2011 it can be found easily despite this site labeling it as a retired brew.

Appearance: Fantastic mother-of-pearl parchment-colored head stands tall and proud above a rusty, nectarine sienna body. Not as Dunkel as most Dunkel Weizens I've known, but certainly more pretty.
Smell: Funky and yeasty - loads of overripe banana, clove, bubble gum, Rauchbier-like smoke, caramel apple, apple seeds, and cinnamon. Spicy, fruity, autumnal, charming.
Taste: Pleasantly spicy-sweet with a distinct roasted-nut essence. Apple cider, plenty of cloves, crusty French bread, sour yeast and tangy wheat, and a subdued, green hop bitterness that lingers on in the aftertaste along with a residual banana bread sweetness.
Mouthfeel: A bit thin, but with pleasantly brisk carbonation. Not too fizzy, but not too soft.
Drinkability: Balanced, flavorful, and light. Very nice.
