Joecast and I must have gotten very different batches. The bottle I had, in Hobart, tasted fresh out of the homebrew kit. Hops were grassy and not pleasant, and the beer just didn't taste like it was up to scratch. Hopefully I got a bad bottle. I doubt I'll ever buy another one, though.

im going to be short but sweet here. this is one awful beer. how this can be in any way called an ipa is beyond me. in fact, this is barely a beer. its a home brew gone wrong. if i brewed this at home and tasted it, it would be going down the sink.
the appearance is ok. its a nice amber color, with a reasonable head that does hang around. the level of carbonation is massive. the fizz in this beer goes totally off tap.
it smells like a wheat beer. plenty of honey and bananas, but there is also an overwhelming metallic scent that kills anything. the taste? its like my piss after ive drank 12 pints, smoked a couple of joints and eaten a kebab or two. totally rotten.
ive tried plenty of these fellows other beers, and as ive said before they are hit and miss. i bought these on the basis of joecasts review. and what can i say? i dont know what beer hes been drinking, but surely it cant be this, ciz this is putrid.

pretty plain looking bottle, but thats not why we are here.
the beer pours an appealing clear copper color, and up blossoms a dense off white head.
the aroma just knocked me out!! very sweet flowery/honey like and surprisingly intense.
while some of the smell comes through in the flavor, it is mostly spicy and peppery. not too strong, but just enough to balance it all out. wouldnt have minded a bit more really.
overall, this was quite a surprise. IPA isnt the most commonly brewed style in australia, and this isnt a bad attempt. will definitely try this again.

-i believe the recipie may have change since my last review, but this is still a solid beer.
the only real noteable difference is the hop profile. while still offering a floral/honey aroma, the flavor offers hints of citrus and pine. every sip brings back flashes of stone ipa. while not in the same league of intensity, the effect is there (well, to me it is).
score not altered as i think it is still a fair assessment. and still my favorite dark isle brew.
