Appearance: Deep copper color with creamy persistent off white head. Head settles out well from an initial pour.
Aroma: Sweet malt notes with caramel and toffee and little hop aroma.
Taste: Caramel and toffee sweetness really come through on the tongue and are backed by a touch of spiciness and good malt backbone. The beer is very smooth and has almost no hop bitterness with faint hop taste.
Mouthfeel: Light bodied yet creamy with medium carbonation.
Drinkability: I like this beer quite a bit but I have a sweet tooth and perhaps that's a big reason why. It's very smooth and easy to drink and overall a very drinkable beer.

I picked this up from the Sleeping Giant tasting room, on our Montana trip. The label is a classic picture, with L & C pointing out over the vast Montana landscape. (see BA pic, just with no neck label)
Pours a deep orange/gold color, with a thin white head. Smells of dark grains and some grassy hops. Flavor has a lot of hop to, bitter and flavor-filled hops. Not what I was expecting from a marzen (closer to a pale ale) style beer. Lots of carbonation gives a full mouthfeel. Quite nice, can see why this is their flagship brand.

Lewis and Clark is a big deal in the Midwest. Just check out all the signs all over our highways.

Lewis & Clark Lager pours an off orange color, which reminds me of dusk as the sun is settling in from the night. The head retention is good with a egg shell white color and decent lace meets with a good appearance for the beer. The smell is sweet with caramel and a slight roasted nut feeling to it.

The taste is a little dry but pleasant. A little sweet and the coffee and toffee undertones are not to be missed. A good mixture of malt to hops makes the beer smooth. Although there is something missing on the malt blend. Feels like its light and lack of a strong body to the beer. This might be do to the strong sweetness coming out, but would be better for a bigger more complex base to it.

The beer feels slightly watered down and this I doc’ed it in the mouthful category. It’s also a bit sweet compared to other Oktoberfest types of beers. Although I could drink this on a regular basis there are better to try. Of course when in Montana, do as the Romans do and have a beer. Or whever your at.

Light copper.

Herbs, flowers and caramel in the nose.

I am pretty sure that this beer is a marzen style lager. Very fruity. Creamy all over the palate. Notes of flowers, cashews, caramel, clove, pollen and apple. Nice Flavor.

Lack of body and major lack of carbonation hurts the beer in more ways than one.

Still, a very nice example of the style.

Thanks Mr. Miles.
