a well made steam lager here, with a lot of character from the lager yeast at warmer temperature, not quite estery, but flavorful and interesting, almost with kolsch yeast qualities, even though thats the exact opposite process, somehow it seems both german and english to me, is clear copper in color and frothy from the tap, sweeter than a lot of these, but bready and hearty and mineral forward and well made, i was impressed with both beers i had in here at the brewery. lots of body in this, even a little filling, but it also retains some trace classic lager crispness. good bitterness from the hops to balance, also kind of earthy to me, never sharp or harsh, but robust enough to come through the grain. european on both grain and hops to me, well proportioned, and well crafted overall. not my favorite example of the style, i prefer them a tad more sessionable, but its neat to have one of these, not too many folks doing them around the country any more it doesnt seem. this place is rad, it was awesome to be able to drink some beers in here after being a fan of their stuff for years! i have not seen this one packaged, might be draft only.
