The Honey Bock is the spring seasonal offering at my local Hops this year, so I was rather looking forward to it. Oddly enough, in a remarkable fit of honesty, the brewmaster there told me he hates this beer and would much rather serve me one of their reds.

Personally, I think he was a little hard on it. It's a very light, golden colored beer, and probably completely and totally undeserving of the bock name. It definately, however, has a bit of honey in it. It's rather sweet, finishing in an a rather mead-like note. I'd drink a glass just for variety, but it's definately not going to be one of my regular orders.

Beer arrivied a light gold color with a persistent head. The aroma is sweet and malty. The flavor is crisp and malty with a honey sweetness. The bitterness balances the sweetness well and keeps the beer from becoming cloying. The finish is sweet, but dries out which improves the drinkability. The beer is medium bodied.
