Found this beer in Normandy and thought I'd give it a try.
I must say I was surprised at its quality as I had never before heard of Norman beer.
Asgard shows off a dark, overcast blond color with fast-appearing and fast-disappearing thick head.
The smell is faint but invitingly fruity.
The taste is complex: a yeasty and smokey sour leaves gradually place to a vaguely spicy and somewhat fruity aftertaste.
Overall it is a very tasty beer although its sour makes it more challenging than most Belgian pale ales. I found it a very good companion of a meal while I'm not sure it wouldn't leave you a bit wanting if drunk on its own.

Got this at a little market in Normandy while on vacation.
From a bottle into a snifter
Best By June 2020
APPEARANCE: Pours a two finger, loose looking, foamy, white head with lousy retention. Clear straw yellow in color with medium carbonation. Big bubbles. Head quickly recedes to a splotchy wisp leaving touches of lacing on the glass.
SMELL: Bready malts, slightly sour green apples, grapes, pears and some spices on the nose. Hints of melon sweetness with a sour touch. Medium strength.
TASTE: Bready malts again, with some spicy notes and sour green apples up font. Light sourness, but it's there. A mild finish of green fruits, caramel sweetness, light spices and some floral bitterness. Not bad and quite refreshing.
PALATE: Falls short. Light body with too much carbonation. Not creamy enough, unfortunately, goes down airy with a scratch at the finish and ends dry on the palate. I've had worse, but this is too light and bubbly.
OVERALL: Pretty good really. The feel definitely held if back from being all it could be, but the flavor, especially the light sourness in this one, was quite interesting, enjoyable and refreshing. One I'd gladly have again if the weather was right.
