Appearance - Extremely active head that dies down into a caramel-colored thin layer. Body of beautiful transparent garnet.
Aroma - Simple sweet malty aroma.
Taste - Caramel flavor with only a fraction of the sweetness that was on the nose. Restrained bitterness.
Mouthfeel - soft feeling, low carbonation
Drinkability - Gladly take one of these over desert. This is a fantastic Japanese craft beer. I have seen no other bocks made in this country, so this is a very welcome beer.
The brewer, Umenishiki, is more widely known as a sake brewer.
