Bottle: Poured a light brown color ale with a medium size foamy head with OK retention and light lacing. Aroma of caramelized malt notes with soft biscuit notes. Taste is also a mix of caramelized malt notes with soft biscuit notes and a semi-dry finish. The body is about average with good carbonation. Well brewed altbier with good drinkability.

Good-looking deep amber color--which is described on the website as a "manly color". Pool of off-white funky foam remains while drinking. Weak retention.
The smell is overrun by malts with a smattering of sweet spices, and light floral hops give it some shape.
The taste is medium-light malt body with a medium hop finish. Good flavor in the hop department, with minimal dryness and bitterness and a distinct flowery impression, like honeysuckle.
I would have liked a slightly firmer feel in the mouth. It delivers creamy and light. Excellent drinkability, however, considering.
Note: Named after the influential Englishman "Clark", who founded Hokkaido University and led up a commission for the development of the island of Hokkaido, this beer is known simply as "Alt" when bottled. At the brewery/brewpub, it is known as "Clark".
