It's an OK beer. Could be a bit smoother. Nice head, nice smell.

This review is dedicated to my beloved Precious, the wonderful cat laid to rest this evening, whose golden coat and sweet, clingy personality perfectly matched the qualities of this brew. May she rest in peace.
Poured from a 500 ml screw-cap bottle into a stemmed pilsner glass.
A brilliantly clear, deep golden hue yields a wonderfully tall two fingers of white meringue, falling very slowly and eventually resting as a thin, frothy crown. Thick, fat rings and webs of lace cling to the glass as it is drained. Absolutely gorgeous.
Aroma is very clean, displaying a nice, subdued sweet maltiness. Very little DMS is detected, if any -- it's difficult to tell, the aroma is so restrained and clean that it hides itself rather well, if it is really even there at all.
Medium-to-full body and mouthfeel with just the right amount of prickly carbonation. A clean, balanced sweet malt palate goes down smoothly, with notes of light honey, faint caramel, and a hint of vanilla. Finishes just a touch dry, with a faint noble hop character balancing a mild malty sweetness.
Magnificently drinkable, a full half-liter bottle slides down with ease, finally showing its 7.5% ABV in the lightheadedness felt afterward. A marvelously smooth, clean pale Doppelbock that shows none of the many flaws of its Dunkler version that is für Winter gebraut. Absolutely spot-on, the hop extract that seems to detract so much from its winter brother shows itself nowhere in this brew. Superb.
