Key Lime Tau was first brewed in collaboration with Crooned Stave for the 2015 International Rainbow Project. It is a kettle-soured, lactose infused Golden Ale brewed with fresh lime zest and lemongrass to taste biscuity and strongly of lime... just like a key lime pie.
We called it Key Lime Tau because of the doubling up - it was a collab between 2 brewers, has been brewed in both sides of the Atlantic and 'tau' is a 2 x pi (3.142) which is also the strength - 6.28%... simple really!

On tap at Beavertown Extravaganza. It has very well integrated sweet lemon notes with a light tartness and powdered sugar flavor. An unexpected surprise.

From a 330ml can. This beer is the same as the 'Key Lime Tau' listing under Crooked Stave brewery from Denver, CO (rated: 90 outstanding). It's a collaboration between Hawkshead in England and Crooked Stave.
Pours dark gold with a very light haze and a thin smear of head. The aroma is soft & fragrant white wine vinegar. Tastes sharp & yeasty, with a hefty dose of lime, balanced by a lovely, soft, sweet, malt base . Body is light with a hint of carbonation and a tangy finish. This is a refreshing, very limey, medium acidic, wild beer. A well executed and tasty example of the style.
