Cask from the wood, 1/3 pint, at the SPBW 1st National Woodfest, Castleford. Pitch black colour, brown head. Aroma of coffee, roast malts and molasses, hints of dark chocolate and vanilla. Sweet and roasty flavour, notes of strong coffee and molasses, bitter finish. Demanding to drink.

Pours jet black with little in the way of foam.
Smell has plenty of biscotti, coffee and just a touch of marsala wine.
Taste is complex and layered. Starts with creamy chocolate and coffee and adds marsala wine and almonds.
Mouthfeel is thick and creamy, well carbonated.
Overall, terrific dessert beer, heavy, yet drinkable.
