Somewhat brighter than I expect from a Marzen, but disappointing aroma - more like a stock ale. Fairly fruity (not nearly so much as the pilsener) and provided a dank aftertaste. Overall quite watery. Robust would not be appropriate here. Maybe after a few it gets better, but we didnt give it the chance. Still, at least has some character.

Beautiful orange color, very nice head: fine dense bubbles. The smell's very weak, I thought. The taste is nicely fruity, sweet red fruits with hints of liquor and caramel. The mouthfeel is enjoyable: a nice carbonation, the hops add a light thickness; the beer has the just enough complexity to keep a high level of drinkability. A good session brew, perfect for the all you can drink they have at the brewpub.

This was my favorite beer at Susukino Ji-Beer, probably mostly for its appearance. It had the deep swirling orange color of a potent black tea, like an orange pekoe. Off-white bubbles completed the appearance. My friends screamed "CHO OISHISOU!!"

The smell was strong and sweet and prepared for the intense, upfront taste of syrupy caramel. A nice hop aftertaste balanced the brew.

The dead mouthfeel was my biggest complaint, as the all-too-light bubbles could barely compete with the strong taste.
