This one pours a shiny coffee black with almost no head.
Aromas of steel, peppery coffee, fresh cocoa nibs, earth, and a touch of lactose.
Flavor starts off kinda dirty, with some earthy raw chocolate and green pepper, followed by a nice softening of lactose, and then a good finish of caramel-coffee-pepper. Some brown bread crusts also linger on the finish.
Feel is too carbonated for me, it's hiding what could have been a good mouthfeel. There is a slight dryness on the finish.
Overall it's pretty disappointing but not completely out of line for a $6 bomber.

My neighbor got a bottle of this to share. It poured an opaque dark with no head and no lace. The scent had hints of chocolate. The taste was caramel cream with anise and slight latte flare. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with fizzy carbonation. Overall it's ok.

Globe bomber. This was one of the better coffee stouts.

Pours an effervescent ebony with fast falling mocha colored head. Zero head retenion & lacing
S: Coffee & not much else.
T: Follows the nose, a little vanilla & a little red pepper up front. A little roastyness & some red grape? as this warms. Finishes with roastyness, a touch grape sweetness & little chocolate, plus dryness
MF: Thin body, fairly firm carbonation
Lack of depth of flavor & body makes this one to pass on, unless you enjoy weak cold coffee

Just not much here. The coffee is subdued too much by the cream sugars and the taste is small in character. It's not a bad beer, just not something worth having a waxed bottle for.

ive been so into coffee beers lately, that i feel like ive been favorable to all of them, some maybe even too much so because i have a hard preference for these right now, but this one really fell short for me. on tap at the vail ale house, it just doesnt have much going on. far less coffee than expected, and the base stout isnt all that great. let down from ska for sure, who is usually pretty spot on for me. shiny but thick, and no head at all on this, looks sloppy and amateur in the pint glass. the nose isnt bad, a little of the coffee bitterness and a lot of roasted barley bitterness as well. earthy and slightly acidic it seems, perhaps a little one dimensional, but not bad. the taste is a little bland, the coffee tastes stale and scalded, and its in very low proportion. the base stout lacks much middle ground malt, and there is a lot of bitterness leftover at the end. i wanted more coffee out of this, but what i really wanted was just a better glass of beer. it felt heavy and weird on the tongue, not nearly enough carbonation, and it has a metallic finish. hopefully it was just a dirty line or something, i will try this one again, but this is nothing special. ska is definitely capable of more than this...
