This one pours a shiny coffee black with almost no head.

Aromas of steel, peppery coffee, fresh cocoa nibs, earth, and a touch of lactose.

Flavor starts off kinda dirty, with some earthy raw chocolate and green pepper, followed by a nice softening of lactose, and then a good finish of caramel-coffee-pepper. Some brown bread crusts also linger on the finish.

Feel is too carbonated for me, it's hiding what could have been a good mouthfeel. There is a slight dryness on the finish.

Overall it's pretty disappointing but not completely out of line for a $6 bomber.

My neighbor got a bottle of this to share. It poured an opaque dark with no head and no lace. The scent had hints of chocolate. The taste was caramel cream with anise and slight latte flare. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with fizzy carbonation. Overall it's ok.

Pours an effervescent ebony with fast falling mocha colored head. Zero head retenion & lacing

S: Coffee & not much else.

T: Follows the nose, a little vanilla & a little red pepper up front. A little roastyness & some red grape? as this warms. Finishes with roastyness, a touch grape sweetness & little chocolate, plus dryness

MF: Thin body, fairly firm carbonation

Lack of depth of flavor & body makes this one to pass on, unless you enjoy weak cold coffee

Just not much here. The coffee is subdued too much by the cream sugars and the taste is small in character. It's not a bad beer, just not something worth having a waxed bottle for.

ive been so into coffee beers lately, that i feel like ive been favorable to all of them, some maybe even too much so because i have a hard preference for these right now, but this one really fell short for me. on tap at the vail ale house, it just doesnt have much going on. far less coffee than expected, and the base stout isnt all that great. let down from ska for sure, who is usually pretty spot on for me. shiny but thick, and no head at all on this, looks sloppy and amateur in the pint glass. the nose isnt bad, a little of the coffee bitterness and a lot of roasted barley bitterness as well. earthy and slightly acidic it seems, perhaps a little one dimensional, but not bad. the taste is a little bland, the coffee tastes stale and scalded, and its in very low proportion. the base stout lacks much middle ground malt, and there is a lot of bitterness leftover at the end. i wanted more coffee out of this, but what i really wanted was just a better glass of beer. it felt heavy and weird on the tongue, not nearly enough carbonation, and it has a metallic finish. hopefully it was just a dirty line or something, i will try this one again, but this is nothing special. ska is definitely capable of more than this...

Pours an opaque black with a foamy super dark khaki head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Tiny dots of lace drip into the remaining beer on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt, toasted nut, cocoa powder, lactose, brewed coffee, earth, and char aromas. Taste is much the same with cocoa powder, brewed coffee, lactose, earth, and char flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is an above average beer that is drinkable, but nothing really stands out about this one.

Pours black with a bit of khaki fizz rising to the top. Meh in look. Mostly roasted and toasted malts in the aroma, with a bit of coffee hiding in the background. Taste is about the same, except I'm not picking up any coffee. Mouth feel is a bit thin, but is worth wise good. Overall, decent. Not picking up much coffee at all.

Served in a 12oz snifter.

Served in a Founders shaker pint glass.

Gotta finish the night somewhere, might as well be here. This stuff pours a straight black-brown topped by a finger of relatively short-lived dark tan foam. The nose comprises coffee and roast, with an underlying current of very mild molasses. The taste brings in more of the same, the roast and coffee jockeying for dominance, neither of them ever really overdoing it somehow. The body is a bulky medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a somewhat dryi-ish finish. Overall, a decent stout, nothing special, nothing great, nothing bad. Based on the relatively low bomber price, I could see drinking this again, but I'm unlikely to have a jones for it any time soon, assuming I even remember it.

Really smooth finish, which comes from a nice if hefty level of creaminess and very low carbonation level (even for a stout). Highly drinkable due to both it's consistency and modes ABV.

Poured from a bomber into a tulip, jet black, opaque with disappearing head. Sweet nose, minimal roast. Tastes sweet, thin mouth feel a hint of coffee. Too much cream, not balanced by stout or coffee.

Jet black with almost no head. It smelled of roasted malt, maybe a hint of coffee. It really tasted like a roasty stout. I didn't find much coffee flavor.

22 oz bottle. Pours dark brown black with a fizzy brown head that quickly disappears to a thin dusting.

The aroma is sweet roast chocolate with some vanilla and leather.

The flavor is subdued - sweet acidic roast chocolate malts with some lactose and vanilla and cola. The mouthfeel is thin and watery.

Overall, I'm not a big fan. It's very subdued and simple and fizzy and flat. I don't get any coffee.

Poured into a balloon glass.

The beer is cola brown - so dark that it's black in the glass - with a khaki colored head that quickly recedes to a wisp. Little or no lacing remains. The aroma is super sweet with a lot of sweet cream coming through as well as some lactose sugar. Anything in the way of coffee is minimal. Also little or no charred or roasted notes. The beer immediately tastes oily and has nuances of black licorice. Very sweet in the middle with a good amount of cream and sugar. The finish is sugary with no sign of coffee anywhere in the taste profile. The mouthfeel is light and carbonated, but there is a silky smoothness about it.

Overall, mildly disappointed to say the least. When mouthfeel is the best attribute, it's not a good thing. Nice sweet cream element but virtually no coffee or roast.
