The Southwest Coast IPA is bright and crisp; the addition of Bravo, Idaho 7, Columbus, Simcoe, and Strata hops create a harmonious blend of grapefruit and tropical fruit aromas that dance like a desert mirage on the palate.

Available in 16-ounce cans and only in Colorado, Utah, Arizona, and New Mexico.

Bright brass with piles of puffy white head; dried pineapple, canary melon + lemon chiffon on the nose; salted grapefruit, passionfruit, white grape, spruce needle, a whiff of ganga, and Juicyfrut comeback to finish; dry, bitter, clean.

So this is yet another Mountain IPA, which they pretty much declare in the commercial description: “the bold, adventurous spirit of the West Coast IPA with the innovative hopping techniques of the East Coast, all while paying homage to the vibrant cultures and landscapes of the Southwest.”
What I didn’t expect is that it’s as much, if not more, West Coast in character than East. So you get I7 citrus, Columbus pine, Simcoe dank and Strata kronik, in a lean, high IBU package.
It’s dry as a bone, there’s no sign of crystal or any stickier malts, and it comes in at a is-it-really-APA strength of 6.2. And yes, there’s a sneaky little bit of fruit punch at the end if you really need it.
All this adds up to a crushable, craveable, hop knife with enough old school vibes + a scratchy finish to keep it honest.
Rises above the mass of West Coast Cooler-esque dry, pale fruit bombs that have infected the market in the wake of Voodoo Ranger. Ska do good work.

Best in class Mountain that I’d love to session.
