The Star Lake Stout is an oatmeal stout that is extremely dark and full bodied. Opaque in color, the rich roasted flavor and rolled oats give this brew its taste.

Draft at the brewpub.
Pours clear dark brown, pretty light for the style, with a small tan head.
Aroma is roast, coffee, and anise. The anise and stronger coffee notes separate this from the porter.
Flavor is also roasted malt, coffee, and anise, with just a touch of chocolate. Pretty tasty, but not quite as full-flavored as I'd like for the style.
Medium body with a mouthfeel that falls a bit short of the mark. A little astringent without much oatmeal smoothness, despite the fact that oats were used.
Pretty drinkable still though. An above-average but not great stout overall.
