Appearance: Pours a dark brown color with neither much head nor lacing
Smell: Some roasted malt aroma
Taste: Roasted malt up front, but surprisingly bitter before the swallow; mid-palate, some coffee and bittersweet chocolate flavors appear; slightly phenolic finish
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied, with a slightly creamy texture; low carbonation level
Drinkability: Flavorful and complex but marred by the phenolic finish
