Tasted at the 2007 Hard Liver Festival at Brower's Cafe.
This was another "new to me" beer, with both the 05 and 06 available at this tasting. I tried the 2005 version.
This was another beer where I thought age had helped the beer considerably. This Barley wine was decidedly on the malty side, with lots of sweet caramel, vanilla and toffere both in the nose and on the palate. This beer was entirely too easy to drink, with the 10.50% abv. very well disguised. The beer was very smooth, with a long, lingering, sweet finish. Excellent job. One of the better barleywines I sampled at this festival.
