Poured from 22oz bomber into a tulip.
Appearance: medium golden hue with a light haze and light effervescence. Head poured a finger of creamy white foam with OK retention and which leaves a chunky lace on the glass as it dissipates. Not too bad.
Smell: sweetish malt aroma with a little sour element and a little bit of funk to it. There's also a little fruitiness here which is quite nice.
Taste: sweet, a little tart, a very little bit buttery, and some tropical fruitiness. It's an interesting beer; it's rather subdued for the flavor profile it offers, but I wouldn't necessarily call that a bad thing. There is also a barrel-aged version of this out there which might be nice to try as well.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a good level of carbonation that builds to a very nice creaminess. I like it.
Overall: this beer doesn't have quite enough finesse for the style, but it's still a completely serviceable shot at a Belgian strong ale.
