On tap at Wolf Creek Steak House. A boozy amber brew. More of a strong ale than a stout.

I bought this recently from Trader Joes in Bellingham, WA (late 2016). I've had this one before and really liked it. For a 6% beer, it has a boozy aroma and that booze carries over to the taste. A typical winter stout, coffee, chocolate and a slight spiciess. Definately worth a try of they start making it again.

Dark brown with about one finger of tan head that lasts about three minutes. Fair amount of lace.
Smell is coffee chocolate and maybe some chicory.
Taste is rich dark roasted coffee with a bit of cocoa. Quite bitter though not sure if it is coffee bitterness or the hops making it so.
Mouthfeel is light to medium with just enough carbonation. Finish is mildly dry and bittersweet.
Overall a decent stout that I would buy again.

From a bottle, into a pint glass: dark mahogany color, mostly transparent. Great toasty aroma, better than most beers of this style. Chocolate, coffee, and toasty flavors but hops in the background. This is an excellent stout- no complaints.

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, nearly opaque in the glass with a half finger light khaki head with good retention and lacing. Aroma of sweet toasted malt, chocolate and light licorice; pleasant. Flavor is semi-sweet dark toasted malt, licorice, hints of chocolate and coffee, a mild hop bitterness in the finish. Medium bodied with a good creaminess. Some nice stout flavors here, but a bit subdued. Well balanced, but a bit more licorice forward than usual, perhaps because the malt feels a little thin. Tastes good, but could use a some more intensity. Not getting any holiday flavors from this winter stout, but it does hit the spot on a winter evening.
