Appearance – This one is almost pure black in color with some light ruby highlights and a nice, retentive head that was deeply-tanned.

Smell – The roasty malts are rather light at the nose. They are counter balanced by sharp, sweet bourbon.

Taste – The roastiness is sharper at the taste but I wouldn’t call it big. The bourbon flavors remind me of Jim Beam. They are strong and unabashed. I’d say that the stout is about 50/50 with the malt and bourbon flavors.

Mouthfeel – Man, is this light for an American Stout. Any stout, really. It’s not even close to medium-bodied. It does have a nice, smooth mouthfeel but it’s just so light.

Drinkability – This was a good drinker if a bit light in the ass.
