Bottle shared by Drew. Thanks!

A: The pour is sot of a murky dark amber color with a couple fingers of off-white head.

S: Smells fairly oxidized as there is quite a bit of chocolate going on, but the nose is quite nice. Lots of toffee and caramel with just a hint of booze. The hops are almost all gone at this point, but there is a nice bit of citrus and pine.

T: Rich caramel and toffee flavors give the beer a pleasant sweetness. Quite floral and perfumey with a little bit of citrus in there as well. Sweet fruit notes are present throughout and there's just a mild pine and bitterness.

M: Medium to full in body with a medium carbonation.

O: Wasn't expecting much from a five year old Double IPA, but it's aged amazingly well. Like a solid barleywine at this point.

One of the real stand-outs during a recent evening of sampling, this IIPA pours dark muddled amber with a decidedly dense and creamy head off eggshell colored foam. Retention is excellent and there is plenty of clumpy lace to go around.

Aromas of deeply caramelized malts, caramel, and scorched brown sugar escape from my goblet. There's a great fruit and citrus note along with candied grapefruit skins. The hops are in your face with a blast of tangerine and pine needles softened by subtle hints of honey drenched wildflowers.

Flavor is thankfully on par with the ample nose. A generous malt entry of dark caramel, toffee, and subtly smoky molasses is quickly countered by a tidal; wave of oily citrus, shaved pine bark, and bittersweet fruit hops. The hop notes are full and complex, leaving a long, oily finish with hintsof malt sweetness. Superb.

Body is big and brutish, with a slippery, creamy mouthfeel and soft, rolling texture. The beer is so well balanced and a joy to imbibe.

Appearance: Pours a hazy copper color with a nice head that leaves some lacing

Smell: Hop juice aroma filled with piney and citrus scent

Taste: Despite only being 82 IBUs, the hop flavors assault the tongue from the get-go; only after the swallow do you get a hint if caramel malt flavor; the finish is long-lasting and hoppy

Mouthfeel: Viscous texture, rather thick bodied, with moderate carbonation; warming alcohol after the swallow

Drinkability: The flavors are intense and drinking is this is a bit of a challenge, but if you like extreme hopped-out beers, this is a contender

Brewed for the Craft Brewer's Conference. Thanks, Alekeep and Cornelia, for the opportunity.
