Pours hazy dark orange, fluffy two finger white head, decent retention.
Smell of rather sweet banana, clove, white bread, touch of oranges. So far so good.
Nice banana, not too lonely, with a bit of apple and orange, with a nice sweet-acidic balance. Soft wheat, some white bread, not heavy. Spices also aren't too strong, but the expected clove is in there. A small hop presence in the finish, with a faint weird note that macro-breweries in this part of the world usually present, like a faint oxidation. Nice banana aftertaste.
Like i said, not heavy, but not watery, kinda creamy, although lifted by quite a big carbonation, at least for a weizen. This makes it rather refreshing.
Cheap, tasty (tho lacking in some departments), thirst-quenching. A nice surprise.

50cl brown glass bottle with generic label art and branded pry-off pressure cap acquired at a Picadilly supermarket in Sofia, Bulgaria and served into a Staropramen pils glass in me friend's gaff in Sofia. Reviewed live, as a weissbier because the label clearly identifies it as such. Expectations are above average; my friend recommended this as one of the best Bulgarian beers. 4.2% ABV. BB: 10.2014.
Served cold. Side-poured with standard vigor as no carbonation issues are anticipated.
No bubble show forms as it's poured.
HEAD: Pours a 3 finger wide head of off-white colour. Decent creaminess, frothiness, and thickness. Billowing. Could be softer. Complexion and consistency are both decent, with ample room for improvement. No lacing clings to the sides of the glass as the head recedes. Head retention is good - about 5+ minutes.
BODY: Lightly hazy, murky copper colour. Not the bright vibrant orange colour I tend to find in the best weissbiers, but I'm optimistic. No yeast particulate or hop sediment is visible.
Appears well-carbonated. It's pretty standard for the style - perhaps even a bit below average. Far from unique or special, but I remain optimistic.
AROMA: Banana, clove, fairly fresh wheat, and clean barley. Complementary light fruity hop notes. There're no noticeable orange peel or citrusy notes here, and the wheat should definitely be fuller and fresher. Banana dominates.
It's a pretty standard weissbier aroma which leans towards the banana side of the style; I tend to prefer citrusy fresh weissbiers but this seems nice so far.
Overall, it's a pleasant aroma of average strength and I detect no off-notes or overt alcohol.
TASTE/TEXTURE: Banana, clove, fresh wheat. What I love here is the softness of the texture and the ease with which the beer goes down. It's near perfectly carbonated, and is smooth and wet enough to be refreshing but has a respectable medium body and some hints of creaminess which lend it sufficient heft on the palate. This texture supports the flavour profile well.
Hopwise, it's to style. Which is to say there isn't much...aside from some light fruity hop notes. I don't get much in terms of any orange peel or citrus, though, which is disappointing - but maybe that's just my personal taste. Overall, the balance tips a bit too far towards the banana notes in my opinion, but it'll probably cater to some tastes. Well-built for a weissbier, with some decent subtlety. Weissbiere are always simple, but this one lacks the elegance and impeccable balance of the best beers in the style. I do like it, but I can't say it stands out.
Average depth, duration, and intensity of flavour. Nice amplitude.
OVERALL: It's a nice Bulgarian weissbier, and hot damn is it a great value (around 1 euro per half litre). I imagine I'll be getting this again, and would definitely recommend it to visitors to the country, but it won't impress those familiar with traditional German offerings in the style, and frankly I'd sooner reach for a Franziskaner even at triple the price of this. For a budget weissbier, though, they don't get much better. A refreshing, enjoyable, and above all drinkable brew which hides its ABV well.
The softness of the mouthfeel is a real highlight for me.
