The best that I tried from Bulgaria. Reddish brown color, thin white head. Aroma of caramel, coffee, and dark fruits. Taste is caramel, roasted, and sweet with bitterness in the finish.

September 2006: RBESG 2006 Grand Tasting, 44 cl can. Brewed by Stara Zagora. Sweetish malty aroma, kind of sickly. Flavour is also (too) malty sweet, moderately roasty, one-dimensional.

Dark bodied with ruby highlights in the light. Creamy khaki head.
Mostly fruity with dark fruits and grape, a touch of nuts, chocolate, toast and roast. It's got some sweetness to it which is to be expected from a big malty beer.
Medium bodied and well carbonated.

50cl aluminum can acquired at a Picadilly supermarket in Sofia, Bulgaria, and served into a Staropramen pilsner glass in me friend's gaff in Sofia. Reviewed live. Expectations are abbove average. 6.5% ABV.
Served cold. Side-poured with standard vigor as no carbonation issues are anticipated.
HEAD: 3 finger wide head of pale khaki colour. Decent creaminess and thickness. Spotty lacing. Pretty good (~5-6 minute) retention.
BODY: Dark cola copper-amber of average vibrance. Clean; no yeast particulate or hop sediment is visible.
Looks well-carbonated. Not unique or special for the style. I'm optimistic.
AROMA: Cream, brown bread, some cream, a kiss of nuts, brown malts, and amber malts.
No yeast character, hop character, alcohol, off-notes, or spices are detectable.
This is a pleasant aroma of above average strength which suggests a balanced and enjoyable bock.
TASTE/TEXTURE: Brown malts, amber malts, faint cream, brown bread, a hint of nuttiness, and mild sweetness. Fairly balanced. Average duration, depth, and intensity of flavour. Not real complex for a bock, but not simple per se either. Decently built. It has cohesion. I do like it, but it's a biteen too bitter.
No yeast character, hop character, alcohol, or off notes are detectable.
Smooth, wet, slightly creamy, unrefreshing, medium bodied, and aptly slightly thick. Suits the flavour profile decently. Doesn't feel custom-tailored to it.
Not oily, gushed, hot, boozy, astringent, or harsh.
OVERALL: Definitely drinkable. It's a nice brew for what it is, and the price point is fantastic. I quite like it, and would definitely get it again if I lived in Sofia. Worth trying in town. Not bad for a bock, but certainly on the low side of average.

Revisited this a week and a half later.
Decent looking bock with a nice nutty aroma and a matching flavour profile. Very drinkable, and preferable to some German bocks I've had.
I'd get it again if I was craving a darker beer in Bulgaria. Might be interesting on draught.

05.20.16 2nd impressions from a bottle.
Malty, hinting at chocolate and Caramel. Maybe even toffee. Chocolate covered cherry comes to mind.
Smooth, wet, medium-bodied.
There's some decent flavour here, but it's a bit artificial in its fruitiness.

Had this one recently in Bulgaria. It's a quite decent bock, it has a nice appearance and enjoyable smell and taste. Pours two fingers head with good retention. Somewhat higher percentage of alcohol is well hidden. Definitely the best beer that Zagorka Brewery can offer.
