Poured from a 0.5l bottle into an unbranded nonic imperial pint glass.
Appearance: Golden and translucent in color. Has a thin head which goes away quickly and leaves non discernable lacing. Not anything special.
Smell: Smells really good actually. Hoppy with citrus tones in the background. Lemons or oranges...
Taste: Bitter and hoppy. Slight citrus aftertaste. Good, but not great.
Mouthfeel: Kind of thin and overcarbonated. Not impressed...
Drinkability: The definition of good, not great. A solid Slovak beer and one of the better ones around, but nothing to write home about.

Another beer reviewed in Slovakia! Poured from 500ml bottle into a nonic imperial pint glass.
Appearance: Pours a bit of an off-golden color with a thick white head that dissipates rather quickly and leaves some lace.
Smell: Grainy, with a slight hint of malts and then some hops.
Taste: Nothing too special here- sweet up front with a good hop bitterness toward the end. Sweet aftertaste.
Mouthfeel: Smooth and refreshing. No complaints here.
Drinkability: Not a great beer, but holds up just fine. There are other Slovak beers I would go for before this one, but if it is indeed an American Adjunct lager (it's honestly more of a pils) then it could be very good for that category.

12 oz. bottle in a Warsteiner pokal...inch head that holds up on a golden body...an average pilsner appearance...mild to sharp malt, and little else to note but that metallic tinge that accompanies the style...soft, watery and a bit oliy to the tongue...perfect on a high 80's F night like this one, but the sweat disguises the general lack of character...malt presence lightly wrapped in an inobtrusive shell....an indistinguishable pilsner in a market of tastealikes...in a style that limits uniqueness, this beer nevertheless end up on the average pile...not crisp, malty or developed enough to be remembered, but gets one through a barbecue

purchased a can with a good freshness date. Poured a deep golden yellow with a 1" white foamy head.
smell was very grainy with a hint of the hop
taste was average...very similar to a czech pil I had a while ago.
A decent smooth beer that doesn't deserve to be lumped in with American Macro lagers, but isn't all that special either. Drinkable, but I'd search out others before this one.

most of the Slovakian lagers are in the Czech Pilsener style (not sure why this is classified as "American Macro Lager" ...) and this one is no exception ...
a well brewed thirst quencher, whith a distinctive note of hops ... not too spectacular, but there is nothing wrong with this one either ...

I had the damnedest time figuring out which Topvar I have in my hand, what with my knowledge of any Slovakian being minimal and all. After following the clues, I'm pretty convinced that I have the 12% Svetle. It does say "Helles Lager" around the top of the can though. Is this right? I'll go with it.
500ml Can poured into a Pint Glass. This is a fat-looking lager, great carbonation, even in my big pint glass. It would be even prettier in a Pilsener glass I'd imagine. Medium sized head that doesn't go flat right away like a lot of Euro-lagers. Good looking anyways.
Smell is mostly sweet and bready malts, perhaps a bit of cooked veggies, some noble hops. Nonetheless, the smell is more like a Pils than an American Macro, which brings into question either the categorization of the style of this one, or my reading of the label and not knowing what the hell I'm drinking. Not a bad smelling beer anyways.
First taste is quite bready and nutty-sweet, all malts. However there is a strong presence of flavourful hops in the back that allow for a slight bitterness in the finish. The use of what seems to be cheap malts ruins this one and whatever balance there might have been. Mouthfeel is a bit thin, but this one is still pretty drinkable. A good thirst-quencher, but I know that the Slovaks can do better than this.

I'm not even sure if this is the right beer, everything on the web site has brown bottles. I have a green one. All I know is this is a Pilsner.
Pours a golden color, very clear and shiny. On the nose I can't pick out anything. On the palate it is watery, with hardly any taste. The mouth feel is smooth, that's about the only good thing going for it. No reason to for me to ever purchase this again...but hey try it for yourself, you may like it.
