Copper color, tending to orange. One finger of white foam. Beautiful color, not so good foam.
In the smell biscuity malt, quite heavy. Stale hop, alcohol, solvent.
At the taste too chewy, again biscuity malt, and well present alcohol.
Too heavy and alcoholic, with a quite bad aftertaste.

Bottle courtesy of Milos- As the descriptor says, it is honey gold. Deep honey. Nose is full of honey too. Lots of malts and sugars, orange peel, a bit alcoholic. Tastes sweet but not balanced. Syrupy malts and citrus peel essence meet candied malts and browns sugars are overwhelming at times. Slick, syrupy finish is sweet and lengthy. Thanks Milos!

Purchased at the Pivni Galerie, Prague, three months ago. The BB date is 10/11/05.

A: dark golden hue, the pretty thin head fades out fast, but the fizzy body is interesting, with quite big bubbles patiently ascending from four corners at the bottom of the glass... looking playful.
S: sweetish bready malty combined with, guess what, a refreshing flow of banana-skin aroma!!--not as pronounced as a hefe-weizen of course, but a nice surprise here to be found in this strong lager... also at presence is slightly buttery note, a tinge of molasses-sugary aroma and softly fruity hops. Overall a bit oily and thick, malty nose.
T&M: a mouthful of medium-thick and rounded maltiness comes in--bready, oily and slightly sugary, with a mildly grassy and fruity hoppyness gradually bringing up an earthy-kind of bitterness and ju...st a touch of alcohol behind, both intensifying on the swallow, leaving a dryish bitter taste deep down the tongue. The mouthfeel is creamy, a bit thick at times, but has no unpleasantness of overly sugary mouthfeel nor the kind of alcoholic warmish touch too early on the palate. The best thing is that the finishing touch remains soft and rounded, without going thin and sugary as happens to many other beers of the same style.
D: overall, a rounded and medium-flavoured strong pale lager with distinctive characters. Thanks for Sigmund's kind suggestion of this beer. This is truly nice, the most enjoyable strong pale lager I've ever tasted so far.

500 ml bottle, bought at Pivni Galerie, Prague. ABV according to the label is 8.0%, brewery website says 8.1%. Golden colour, moderate head. Nice hoppy aroma, notes of caramel and berries. Flavour is hoppy (plenty of Saaz and probably other hops too) and moderately alcoholic (as expected from an 8% beer), but malty enough to sustain the hops and alcohol. Moderate sweetness throughout. Way ahead of most other high ABV golden lagers I’ve tasted.
