basic and maybe a little bit less overtly japanese in style than some of these, just kind of drinks like a pils, but its fairly clean and tidy, easy down summery yellow beer, im sure there is some rice in it but its light to me, really a no frills drinker without a ton of personality, which isnt a bad thing in a refresher like this sometimes. blonde and sunny colored with good clarity and a high rising but fast falling white head that settles back to a thin ring of bubbles rather abruptly. the nose is a little bit sweet, light floral honey and crackery pale barley malt, a little starch and even maybe like elderflower or something from the rice inclusion, minimal lager yeast character to me, slightly bready and european maybe, but uninteresting and not a huge factor in the taste either, although i think the lagering and fermentation overall is quite professional in this. a hint of lime in the flavor, and almost more of a corn thing than rice, a little bit sweet but drier at the end, crisp even, without a ton of hops rising up, but the balance and freshness are both there, i like this aspect more and more as the beer warms up. yellow florals at the end along with some lingering grain, smooth without being too too light, and this ends up being a beer i could drink indefinitely, perhaps elevated by spicy or salty foods, but i went straight up on this. my first new one from these guys in awhile, mild but successful.
