A 16 ounce draft pour into a shaker pint at the No-Li Bier Hall.
Appearance- Deep brown, opaque, light brown frothy head, slightly below average lacing, average head retention.
Aroma- Cocoa, hazelnut, roasted malt, weak strength of scent.
Flavor- Cocoa, roasted malt, hazelnut, moderately sweet, medium strength of flavor.
Mouthfeel- Medium body, slightly above average carbonation, moderately creamy, mildly mouth warming, mildly mouth coating, moderately bitter, moderately sweet, mildly dry finish, silky.
Overall- Deep brown and opaque with slightly below average lacing and average head retention. The bouquet had notes of cocoa, hazelnut and roasted malt, but the intensity was weak. The flavor had slightly more intensity and led with the same cocoa character, but the roasted malt overpowered the hazelnut. This beer had medium body and mild mouth warming/coating properties. Overall, this beer needed more aromatics and flavor in general, but more precisely needed more chocolate and hazelnut character.
