L- Clear dark amber body, frothy white head with little bubbles all over it. Low retention.
S- Caramel, sugar, dates, roasted grains.
T- Sweet caramel, sugar, raisins, grain malts, dough. A bit flat. Hops touch is present at the end of every sip.
F- Medium, smooth.
O- Nice brew but lacks more roasted qualities. Bit too sweet and somewhat flat for the style.

Brown reddish color with a thin head with short retention.
Faint aroma with notes of caramel and maybe cocoa.
Mild flavor with notes of caramels, grains, toasted malts and spices. Hints of cardboard. Mild aftertaste.
Light to watery body with somewhat effervescent carbonation.
This is definitely not a bold Schwarzbier. It feels like a regular Dark Lager from a mass producer.

Reviewed from notes.
Poured in a mug.
A - Clear reddish brown with a creamy brownish head about 1 and half finger high that dissipates leaving no trace at all.
S - Faint caramel aroma, brown sugar, but mostly alcohol and wheat/bread.
T - Definitely caramel at first, then the hops hit you along with a strong bread taste (like her Güera sister) and traces of wheat at the end.
M - Crisp, watery but somewhat smooth and just the right amount of carbonation. Leaves a bitter aftertaste that makes you have another one. Not impressive, but not bad at all either.
Overall, very good compared to most Mexican beers in the market. The best Mexican dark beer I've tasted so far.

12 oz. bottle,
A: Pours a deep maroon red with a full creamy white head leaving some thick lace.
S: Sweet dark bread, Vienna style malt.
T: Has some solid malt flavours though it gets astringent on the back end. Light pastry finish, strange hop character.
M: Light-bodied, feels thin. Creamy, fairly smooth, but not a clean beer.
O: An OK dark lager, I would have liked a little more sweetness here akin to what the nose was promising.

Another fine Mexican lager left in my fridge by Jake.
A: The pour is a light amber color with a finger of off-white head.
S: Initially there is some nice toasted malt aromas with even a light roast. However, then there is a smell of cough syrup (cherry flavor) and...grapes? Fairly sweet, overall.
T: Slightly acidic with a little bit of roast and a fair amount of toast. A bit of paper/cardboard flavor to it, too. Light hop flavors and little to no bitterness. Some light yeast and sweetness.
M: Light in body with a medium level of carbonation.
O: While this had more flavor to it than the Light, it was not necessarily good flavor.

Finishing off the "3 Amigos" pack from this Tijuana brewery, on to the beer:
There's something about the amber color that draws my eyes to it. Reddish and a few orange hues draws further interest. The head forms two inches thick, drops to a thick, creamy lace. Dissapointing is the nose. There's a very faint ester note there, very light toffee. Something wants to crawl out but never does.
I would expect the taste to come out of something made by the big boys. Decent without impressing too much. A little sweet from the malt, bringing toasted malt and esters. The malt is also a little husky and there's a metallic note which are distracting. At least the beer has good feel.
The third time wasn't the charm I had hoped for from La Taberna TJ. Oh well, it was worth a try.

A: nice deep ambar, with a 2 finger creamy no white head. some residual is left behind, the amount of carb is reasonable to maintain the head
S: a notorious caramel, on the far back a little diacetyl and raisins not roasted at all but some times is perceptible
T: a very tiny sweetness for the start, then a roasted malt taste is present during the rest of the sip, there is no significant bitterness, the end is short and dry
M: light body, quite easy to drink, and there is no crisping which i found nice on this one
