Deep black color with a huge thick caramel head with great retention and leaving laces. Darker than usual for the style.
Aroma with notes of dark chocolate, a bit of wood, cocoa powder and some vanilla.
Flavor with notes of lots of dark chocolate, oak, a bit of coffee, grains, vanilla, noble hops and bread crust. Dry aftertaste with a balanced bitterness and smooth roasted and woody finish.
Medium to full velvety body with perfect carbonation. Alcohol of 7.5% is not felt.
Doppelbock with assertive bitter chocolate notes that is well balanced and has a smooth wood background. Not very complex, though. Positive surprise from Kunstmann.
