Light black draught pour, thin but no ruby; light tan head which vanished immediately; good clarity under cap. Light roast malt nose. Toasty caramel malt flavor. Lite mouthfeel and almost no carbonation. Some roast linger. Ok.

Black Bear Stout pours a black color with no head. There is a mellow roasted aroma, with some chocolate notes. The taste had some chocolate flavors, and a roasted backbone. The body was flat, and the flavors were watery and weak. Overall its a nice flavored beer, but it is very light and watery.

I got this beer on a trade from Oxymoron. It came in a plastic bottle! I found that to be very strange. The beer pours a dark brown, almost black, with a brown head. The head fades very quickly leaving very few laces. It has a crisp malty aroma. I can also smell some chocolate aroma. A very slight coffee aroma is also present. This beer tastes rather thin. It has a malty taste. It also has a watered down coffee flavor. It is rather dry. It is also slightly sweet. I can taste the roasted malts, but only slightly. I can not detect any hop presence at all. This beer is not very well carbonated, but that might be due to it being shipped in plastic bottles. It goes down smooth leaving a sweet aftertaste. This beer is quite drinkable. I think it would make a decent session beer. It is a little thin for the style though. Thank you Oxymoron for giving me an opportunity to try this beer.
