Pours a nice dark brown color. 2 finger tan head. The head retention is pretty good, and there's nice lacing on the glass.
The nose is very minimal. Just the faintest hint of coffee.
The flavor is a nice mellow coffee flavor up front. The back has a hint of vanilla, and there's some chocolate mixed in throughout.
The body is a bit lighter than I expected, but not too much.
A very tasty beer overall.

16 oz can into New Glarus glass.
Deep silky black with a creamy head of 1 finger that recedes to a ring and leaves some speckled lacing. Slight alcohol legs too.
Aromas of coffee, but more along the lines of cheap can coffee, slight dark chocolate, and heavy roasted barley.
Flavors are deep and rich with coffee and more coffee, with some dark chocolate notes, earth, roasted barley, and char.
Feel is roasty, creamy, moderate carbonation which fits the beer perfectly, with a roasted finish and mild alcohol warmth.
Overall, this is an impressive beer, very happy these guys are coming along. Better than most of their older stuff from back in the early 2000s. Nice work.
