Pours a sunshine yellow with a light orange tint with not much haze and almost no head, aroma is of citruis fruit mainly orange with a hint of coriander, pretty appetizing.A very refreshing beer with subtle orange notes and crisp dry malt with a little spice that lingers well in the finish. This beer is made for southern summers no doubt a real easy drinker with alot of nice subtlties going on well done.

Nearly clear golden yellow appearance is very attractive, but is marred by a smallish head that is gone in an instant. The aroma is very spicy with coriander up front and clove backing it up. The taste does justice to the aroma with coriander, orange peel, clove, pepper, and other sundry spices vying for your attention. There is also a lemony tanginess in here. This is an ultra refreshing, and easy drinking beer that is perfect for the summer. The only fault I can find here is the lack of a substantial amount of malts and hops. I know it is a summer beer, but if Victory Whirlwind Witbier can get away with being beefier, there is no harm for Dogwood to try it too.

Pours a hazy golden honey color with a creamy white head that fades into a ring of lace. Nose is sweet and spicy with notes of orange zest and coriander. Light and crisp in texture with a good amount of active carbonation. Taste is sweet malt and wheat with the same orange citrus and coriander that were present in the aroma. Faints hops are noticeable towards the end with a citrus bite in the finish. Quite refreshing and a good choice for a hot day. Thanks to aracauna for the sample!

Poured a hazy gold with a decent amount of white head...not bad...
Aroma was not comming through too good...but I could smell some citrus hops...
Taste as everyone mentioned some wheat beer attributes...I definately tasted the citrus like hops and almost at one point a tea like flavor...it reminded me of a lemony tea mixed with beer...it wasnt terrible...just not my cup of tea (ha)...
Mouthfeel was average...
Drinkability...I could have drank many of these at a barbq if i could just get over the taste...

Pours a cloudy yellow-orange body that looks more like a bavarian hefeweizen than a Belgian witbier. The short head of creamy bright white foam drops readily to a wide collar and cottony surface covering. The aroma is interesting and unusual with a note of apricot amidst sweetish malt and delicate spice. It's quite nice, and very welcoming! The body is medium/light; and it gives a light tingle on the tongue before warming to become lightly creamy in the mouth. The flavor delivers some juicy citric tartness upfront, but it quickly fades as a sweeter orange flavor develop across the middle. It finishes dry with some citrus peel and soft coriander. It's very well-balanced, refreshing, and full of flavor. Very well done!

Thanks to aracauna for the trade. This is definitely one of the best Wits I have tried, even if it is not the best example of the style. In fact, many of the elements in a more classic version of the style that I do not enjoy are not a factor in this brew. Pours a murky dark orange with a thin off-white head. Thin lacing. Nicely spiced aroma, with some citrus and vanilla. Light and crisp with a nice citrus aspect, along with yeast, cloves, coriander and other spices. The finish is sweet and lingering. Tbis is an outstanding brew for summer enjoyment.

Sampled from a 12oz bottle with a best before date on the side.

Poured a cloudy honey color with a small white head.

Aromas of honey and coriander with some malt and hops.

The taste was honey, coriander, wheat, hops, and some spice. Very light body, with a clean finish. Great drinkability. Better or comparible to the Alagash White. Great summer brew.

Rerate 4/29/03: There's a world of difference this time. Darker than typical wit - more of the average hefeweizen color. Head quickly dissipates. Clear aroma of coriander and orange peel. Body is appropriately light. Spicing is well balanced and it is amazingly refreshing. There's been some changes in the brewery and it seems that the quality problems that plagued them last year are fixed and this beer has definitely benefitted from the changes.

5/27/02: I'm not really sure this beer qualifies for the Belgian White style. It's really more like the Belgian pale ales like Corsendonk Pale in flavor and appearance than the Wits like Hoegaarden. The ingredients listed on the website (2 row Barley, Malted Wheat, Flaked Wheat and Oats) aren't exactly kosher for Whites either (at least according to the styles described on this site). Despite style issues, it's not a bad beer.

The beer pours a somewhat hazy golden amber color, the head is modest, the lace namby-pamby, off white in color. Nose is malt, hints of citrus, clean and fresh. The front malt and slightly sweet, the top light, the finish is monstrously acidic, minimally dry, pleasurably hopped, a quite good "Session" beer.
