Got this one at the brewery
From a bomber into a snifter
IBU: 20
APPEARANCE: Pours a two finger, very loose, fizzy, crackly off-white head with lousy retention. Head fizzes away quickly to a full foamy cap and clings to the glass. A deep maroon red color, clear, with no carbonation evident. A splotchy wisp remains leaving decent lacing down the glass. Head is pretty lousy and the color is a little light for the style.
SMELL: Definite cherry and chocolate notes, with some berries, toffee notes and spicy alcohol for sure. Tart cherries and Belgian phenols as well. Well balanced and everything is there.
TASTE: Cherries and red berries up front. Spicy booze with toffee notes as well. More cherries and some tartness at the swallow with a bold and lingering finish of cherries, chocolate notes, red berries and spicy notes.
PALATE: Medium body and medium levels of carbonation. A little watery and prickly on the palate, goes down fine and finishes a bit mouth-coating. Watery and prickly at the same time, oddly enough.
OVERALL: This is okay. The flavor and aroma are nice, but the look and feel could definitely be better. Not sure what style this is, but calling it a quad is definitely a stretch. Glad to have tried it but not something I’d want to meet up with again.

Bottle: Poured a clear brown color ale with a large dark white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of cherry and candi sugar with some caramelized malt is enticing enough. Taste is a nice mix of candi sugar and cherry notes with some caramelized sugar with some fruity ester. Body is about average with good carbonation. Interesting take on the Belgian ale style thought cherry flavours could have been more balanced.
