Got this one from hopsolutely this past summer. Cheers, guys!
From a bomber into a snifter
IBU: 18
APPEARANCE: Clear brown pour yields a two finger, medium looking, creamy tan head with good retention. Bistre brown body with no real carbonation evident. Head slowly fades to a wisp and leaves touches of lacing on the glass. A splotchy wisp and ring remain leaving some decent lacing down the glass as it empties.
SMELL: Roasted coffee beans, sweet cream, vanilla notes, milk chocolate and some lighter notes of caramel on the nose.
TASTE: Roasted malts with caramel and coffee beans up front. Milder finish of cream, coffee beans, burnt notes and some caramel sweetness. Milk chocolate with roasted coffee beans and cream.
PALATE: Slightly thinner body with medium levels of carbonation. Not that creamy, a little watery, goes down fine and finishes a bit mouth-coating.
OVERALL: Okay, but not as good as the bourbon soaked vanilla bean version of this one. The aroma and flavor fit the bill but the feel is somewhat thin and watery. A decent brew but not something I’d have to re-visit anytime soon. The bourbon vanilla bean version, on the other hand, could show up again any time. Thanks again for taking care of this ex-pat, guys!
