I've always liked Lackey's stouts.

Now it's 5.3% and 30 IBU.

A: Black with a tan had, great retention & lace.

S: Mocha with a light fruitiness.

T: Bakers chocolate, black strap molasses, licorice, espresso, hints of piny resin, light woodsy spicing, hints of soy sauce, solid bitterness, slight roasted acidity.

M: Fairly full body for it's strength, but not much residual sweetness which nice, slight roasted acidity.

D: A good drinker & an overall good brew.

Thanks to Bobby for sharing this.

A: Pours very dark brown, almost black, with a large tan head.

S: Intensely roasty with a bit of char to it. Bitter dark chocolate on the nose and definitely some vanilla, quite a lot of vanilla, actually. Mild coffee notes and lots of caramel sweetness.

T: The flavor isn't offensive, but it's not necessarily good either. Intense roast and char with tons of sweet vanilla, but it's kind of a fake vanilla flavor. Some hints of dark, bitter chocolate.

M: Medium in body with a medium carbonation.

O: Not terribly impressed with this. My few ounces of this was plenty.

Bottle thanks to Alex, drank from a Cigar City snifter... Black body with a medium tan head, thick ring, ok lacing... The aroma and taste are similar and both exceedingly generic. Vanilla is the worst offender of them, extract and chemical. Coffee is next offender, then I get some caramel too. This isn't terrible, semi drinkable, not nothing I would come back for.

Picked up a few bottles of this one at the brewery while visiting my parents in Toronto. Served in a Portsmouth tulip. Project X bottle with green foil and a tag that states 5.3%, 30 IBU.

A - Finger of tan foam that settles to some haze and a thick collar, leaving spotty lace behind. The body is black.

S - Coffee, roasted grains, molasses, caramel, vanilla. It's a little too heavy on the saccharine notes, and could use more roast coffee.

T - Vanilla, and unfortunately the extract variety. Coffee is there, but in the background. A bit cloying with a weird sweet grain character. Worse than the nose, and while not great it's not terrible either.

M - Smooth medium body, lower carbonation. There's a bit in the stickiness in the finish. The oats really impart some nice creaminess.

D - It's fairly easy to drink, but isn't particularly exciting. This kind of sucked compared to the other beers we had, outside of Cortez and the infected Kuhnhenn growler.

On cask at Volo Cask Days extended version 2008. Pours black, with initially soapy bubbles. Aroma is pure American sweet chocolate. The mouthfeel is below average and a bit astringent, the cask is tapped after sitting for one and a half weeks. There is some bitterness coming through in the finish. Fairly basic for the style.
