This unfiltered IPA takes us back to the days of 2010, when GLB was cranking out small batch West Coast style ales on a weekly basis. It looks like our IPAs from 2010 - unfiltered, clear and golden in colour. The aroma on this one features the sweet notes of candied orange peel, grapefruit and fresh pine. The medium to full bodied IPA produces flavours of lemon pith, orange marmalade and sticky pine resin from a very generous hop bill, while the malt backbone produces traces of honey. Finishes very dry, very bitter (60 IBU), just like those 6.5% IPAs of yesteryears.

Pours hazy brass, not cloudy like most IPAs nowadays. A rocky, everlasting head drapes the glass in lace. The aroma is of grapefruit, pine needles and biscuity malts. The taste is of pine sap, grapefruit, pineapple and some coarse hop bitterness. Light bready malts in the back. Full body with high carbonation. Medium bitterness and some coarse hop flavor in the long finish.
A true to style if a bit abrasive old school west coast IPA, Worth a try.

An xmas treat from my sister-in-law.
Appearance - Pours a clear golden amber with four fingers of frothy white head.
Smell - piney, earthy, leafy, floral, and weedy hops, pine resin, grapefruit peel, caramel, bready malts, and earthy yeast.
Taste - bitter piney, earthy, leafy, floral, ad weedy hops upfront. The pine resin and grapefruit peel follow suit. The caramel, bready malts, and earthy yeast round out the brew.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Finishes sticky with the hops lingering.
Overall - A bold, flavourful, and innovative brew from the folks at Great Lakes. I like how they went back to their roots of brewing bold West Coast IPAs.
