Picked up a bomber from the brewery as part of the Project X Series. Stated IBU of 62.
Poured in to Duvel tulip.
A - Slightly cloudy yellow/orange colour with one finger of thick, bubbly white head.
S - A nice fresh bitter hop nose with grapefruit, tangerine and some earthy notes. A very light and subdued malt backbone provides a little bit of sweetness. A nice nose.
T - A nice bitterness up front. Not as much citrus as the nose indicated but still has some nice grapefruit and orange peel flavours along with some earthy/pine notes. The malt backbone is very subdued - almost to the point of being non-existent. As the beer warms up, the malt presence is intensified. A pure hop-forward IPA, which is just the way I like them!
M - Medium body; nice chew. Lightly carbonated. A bitter and somewhat dry finish.
D - A very good IPA.
