Cask at Volo, pint glass.
Pours a dark violet/nut brown-ish, difficult to tell by the lighting. No head, and served at cask temperatures (ie. room temp). Nose is of the winter spices in the original ale, some cinnamon, allspice and some brown sugar. Light raisin and minimal bourbon detectable. Initially strikes me as quite flat upon first sips, but it's a cask ale. Definitely didn't improve the mouthfeel here, but somewhat expected given the serving type. Taste is malt forward, light spicing following the nose and relatively tame. Hint of the raisin, and the bourbon and oak come through in the finish. Drinkability was quite good, although likely my least favourite beer of the evening. Didn't differ significantly from the original Winter Ale.

On cask at Bar Volo.Lateral tasting with the regular. Its about the same for different reasons. Its like a flat version of the regular winter, with wood chips soaked in bourbon thrown in, adding a mild but not bold bourbon taste. Nothing too special, though somewhat drinkable. A little raisin colour in it, no head whatsoever. A tad cold. Average mouthfeel.
