Appearance. Pours a deepest brown, almost black with 2 fingers of light chocolate head that leaves some nice lacing.
Smell. Roasty dark malt, grass, a little chocolate and coffee and some spicy hops.
Taste. Yum! Dark chocolate, bitter citrus and grassy hops. Bitter hop finish with some nice vanilla and coffee.
Mouthfeel. On the lower side of medium body, medium carbonation. Alcohol well hidden.
Overall. Had a few not-so-good black IPAs before and really wasn't too excited about drinking this one. Surprise, this is frickin' tasty stuff. It has everything I like about a roasty, chocolaty stout with a nice hoppy kick. It all somehow works beautifully together.
Thanks Sammy for something cool and different!

Thanks Sammy for picking up the bottle for me! Pours a dark brown colour with thick tan head. Lots of lacing on the glass, with really nice head retention. Smells of fruity sorachi hops with chocolate and roasted malt. Some bitterness, but the sweet chocolate in the roasted malt balances it out nicely. Medium bodied mouthfeel. I really enjoy this beer, possibly one of my favourite Black IPA's I've had. Certainly this is interesting because I've never had a Black IPA with this hop variety before.

Black with a lacey head. The aroma is chocolate, hops and oregeno. Not smooth mouthfeel, this is an unuual black IPA. C-hop, the taste of higher IBU but tastes like the inclusion of some pickilling spices, dill noteably, on purpose. I taste the pickles in the aftertaste.Tis is th vegetable side-effects of using sorachi. grapefruit is there mid-sip. A pint is too much.
