On tap at Volo, Great Lakes/Mike Lackey feature. Into a tulip.

Poured a thick, murky egg yolk yellow with some orange and tangerine highlights throughout. Mild retention and a little bit of lace, but my god is that body sexy. Nose holds a ton of tropical fruits (hallertau hops?), some banana, mild bubblegum notes, and a bit of the wheat are here too. Taste is dominated by the dry wheat, some bittering hops in the finish. Less fruit than the nose, but of similar style. Yeasty finish as well, with a good mouthfeel. Dry and 'wheaty' throughout, reminiscent of Les Trois Mousqutaires Imperiale Weizen. Minimal alcohol comes through. Good drinkability and certainly appropriate for the summer. Side note: I don't think this was intended to be a true representation of the German Hefeweizen style, feel like and imperial wheat ale. I'd dock more points if it claimed to truly represent that style, but I don't think Great Lakes intended to by any means. Good for what it is.

Not the style. Orange body with initially soapy head, it looks great. There is some orange and creamy wheat and hops in aroma, but also some detergent in aroma. But it was astringent rather than smooth citrus and creamy wheat, the elements of very good hefe's I have had in the past. Not so drinkable.
