Bottle from the brewery, Project X. 650ml into a tulip.
Poured a dirty mahogany, with some deep violet and brown hues; unfiltered. Finger and a half of cream coloured head, with thin retention and mild lace. Nose has oak (duh), dark caramelized fruits (dates/figs) with a solventy note reminiscent of wood cleaner. Taste follows this with caramelized dark fruits and oak, with yet again, wood cleaner. Some red grape and raisin notes, in addition to light caramel, stale dark breads and a touch of spice (cinnamon? nutmeg?). Oak thorughout is very similar to that employed with their barrel aged winter ale. Medium mouthfeel and adequate carbonation. Drinkable and curious, certainly some prominent undesirable notes but this wasn't completely offensive.

Project X Bottle from the Brewery
Per the label, ABV of 6.3% and IBU of 12.
Poured in to Founder's Tulip Glass
A - Medium brown colour with half a finger of khaki coloured head.
S - Cloves, cinnamon, caramel. Heavily spiced but I don't get the oak aging at all in the nose.
T - Cloves, ginger, cinnamon and some very light wood notes. The wood flavours are present but are definitely secondary to the spices and without knowing to look for them, I may not have even detected them. The spicing is somewhat over the top as well. In addition there is an somewhat of-putting flavour that is present but I can't pinpoint.
M - Lihgt body with a slight chew. Light carbonation.
O - An interesting experiment and I am happy to see GL continue to try new things like this. But this one didn't work for me all all and the barrel aging was lost among the heavy spicing.

Another fun offering by Lackey et al. that is a complete story in wood, every molecule of it. Floor polish aromas. Above average moutheel. Lacey with a significant head.A sweet malty edge that keeps it drinkable, it may even be brett, some hops. This is not a pale ale. Some spice.
