Bottle from Project X, 650ml into a tulip. Single hop IPA featuring Saaz, 72 IBUs.
Opaque (bottle conditioned) orange-y brown with a solid couple of fingers of white head. Dense lace and really nice retention. Nose has some big caramel malty notes but the Saaz is there, some leafy, green lightly spicy and herbal notes along with some fairly prominent citrus characteristics. A bit of honey-like sweetness as well. More caramel and a bit of honey-like malt flavours, but again the Saaz is prominent. Leafy, piney and herbal. A touch of spiciness and some light lemon. A bit of melon rind as well, even a hint of honeydew. Certainly interesting. A bit of warmth from the alcohol, although it's not present on the palate. Long lingering bitterness, but it isn't immense. A success I'd say, some nice flavours and showcases the hop quite nicely.
