Great Lakes Project X that offers a refreshing pilsner, true to the Czech style. Enjoying it out of an Urquell glass on principle!
Bottle pours a warm golden colour with respectable white head. Minimal lacing, but a pleasant-looking ongoing carbonation level. Mouthfeel is slightly heavier than expected. Grain-forward aroma of bread and biscuits. Caught a lot of Saaz or other traditional Czech hops at the initial opening, but those have since faded. The taste ends with a nice bitterness despite listing only 22 IBU, plus a slight alcohol warmth. Flavours are predominantly cereal and grain oriented, again exactly as fitting the style.
All in all, not a beer style I choose often, but think Great Lakes has done a good job in creating an easy-drinking and well brewed example.
