Pours a clear, dark brown color. 1/3 inch head of an off-white color. Great retention and great lacing. Smells of sweet malt, slight roasted malt, hint of oatmeal, and hint of hops. Fits the style of an American Brown Ale. Mouth feel is smooth and clean, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of sweet malt, slight oatmeal, slight roasted malt, hint of citrus hops, and hint of earthy malt. Overall, good appearance, feel, and body. I'm not sure if this is the same recipe as the archived Brown Ale, but either way there is a Brown Ale currently brewed at Browning's.

Pours a dark brown color with a small off-white head. The aroma is of chocolate, nuts, and roasted malt. The taste is chocolaty and nutty. Very smooth flavor, the way a brown ale should be. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with ample carbonation. Overall, this is the best brown ale I've ever had. It is simple wonderful. This has to be one of the best session beers on the planet.

This beer came as part of the sampler at this establishment, served as a 4 oz sample. There was almost no head. the color was a deep opaque brown. The nose was a nice roasted smell with hints of chocolate and toffee, but a little weak. Chocolate comes through initially with a very nice hop finish on this one. Mouthfeel was very good; slightly heavy but not syrupy with just enough carbonation. There was no lacing left on the glass as I drank it. I would definately drink this again, and I recommend it to anyone that makes it to Browning's.

Served with less than a finger of head, that dissipated quickly. Thin lacing on the glass as it went down, color is a very dark brown. It looks exactly like a brown ale should look. The smell has subtle flavors, definate malt presense, some sweetness.
The taste is not subtle. Instant taste of chocolate, with some roasted aftertones, and mild nutty flavor. Leaves just a slight bitter aftertaste. Wonderful flavor.

Why only a 3.5 then?
This beer has one flaw, which it has had since Browning's opened. There is a metallic taste/aftertaste. On first sip, you scream UGH, METAL. Next sip, ugh, metal. Followed by mmmm, beer. Despite the metallic flavor it is a wonderful tasting beer. If they ever manage to permanently eliminate this flaw, I will edit this to a 5 for taste.
---
Ive been drinking this beer all summer and havent noticed the metal. It is time to make the change.
---
The mouthfeel is thick and solid, but stops short of being chewy. Drinkability - yes please! It is hard to drink just one, and so I didnt.
This is one of my favorite beers in my favorite style. This is a great beer despite the metallic taste. I can only imagine how good it would be without that.
